Total Maintenance Services Inc. is working hard to ensure that we follow the protocols and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide safe business practices and services against COVID-19.
Employers are accountable to deliver safe and healthy workplaces that are clear of acknowledged dangers likely to cause death or serious physical harm according to The Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Although more people begin to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and businesses relax mask-wearing and social distancing measures, employers should continue daily practices of cleaning and disinfecting public and private surfaces to prevent the spreading of viruses, in addition to providing a safe and sanitary workplace. Until all people have received the COVID-19 vaccine, businesses should continue to implement cleaning and disinfecting practices to prevent the spread of the disease and to provide a clean and safe work environment.
What is COVID-19?
According to the CDC, COVID-19 is “a respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a new coronavirus discovered in 2019. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Some people who are infected may not have symptoms. For people who have symptoms, illness can range from mild to severe. Adults 65 years and older and people of any age with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness”.
The CDC confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the United States on January 21, 2020. In the early months of 2020, travel bans, stay-at-home orders, and restrictions on global air travel began to be implemented across the US. Companies started working on a vaccine to protect individuals from the Coronavirus.
At present, the three types of vaccines that are approved in the US are from Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer. The CDC recommends receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
CDC Recommendations
